LOCTITE® 416 is an ultra clear, medium viscosity instant adhesive suitable for plastics, rubbers and metals. It bonds quickly with a fixture time of 20 to 40 seconds and is compatible with standard hand assembly processes. It performs well even with difficult plastics when used alongside primer LOCTITE® SF 770.
LOCTITE® 416 is a one component cyanoacrylate adhesive formulated for rapid bonding of dissimilar materials including plastics that are typically hard to bond. Its medium viscosity ensures that it fills small gaps while avoiding excessive run off. The adhesive cures via atmospheric moisture to develop full functional strength within 24 hours. It complies with military standard MIL A 46050C Type II Class III, making it an excellent choice for precision assembly applications in electronics, consumer goods and light industry.
Viscosity at 25 °C is 900 to 1 500 mPa·s (Brookfield LVF, spindle 2, 12 rpm)
Fixture time on mild steel ranges from 20 to 50 seconds and on aluminium from 10 to 30 seconds
Gap fill is approximately 0.15 mm
Shear strength on grit blasted steel is typically 18 to 26 N/mm² after 24 hours
Specific gravity is approximately 1.05 at 25 °C
Service temperature spans from –65 °C to +82 °C (–55 °F to +180 °F)

LOCTITE® 416 is ideal for bonding small to medium parts where speed and clarity are required. It excels on plastics including PP, PE and PTFE when used with primer LOCTITE® SF 770. Apply a drop of adhesive, align parts and press briefly; cure develops rapidly. Allow up to 24 hours for full strength prior to load bearing or exposure to fluids. Suitable for use in electronics, optical devices, consumer goods and light mechanical assemblies.
